Product shoot - FlickInc

Flick Inc. was born from Frances Kierman’s passion for whimsical art inspired by South Africa’s natural beauty. As an illustrator and glass and ceramic artist, Frances blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, drawing from interior design, fashion, and contemporary trends.

Starting as Flick Glass Studios and My China Ceramics, the brand now offers handcrafted products that add joy and colour to everyday life. All Flick Inc. items are produced in their Muizenberg studio by Frances and a team of five artisans, ensuring quality and authenticity.

I took photos of the Dichroic Glass Earrings showcasing and captivating colour play unique to dichroic glass. "Dichroic" means "two-coloured," where light passing through appears as one colour while reflected light shows another. These dynamic earrings are created by layering vaporized metal oxides on glass, shifting hues from every angle. You can only elevate your style with their vibrant, ever-changing sparkle.

After the challenge of capturing the glass earrings and their unique way of changing colour, I moved over to the porcelain stud earrings. Each piece is meticulously crafted with care and attention to detail. Hand-rolled, cut, and fired, these earrings are adorned with intricate designs painted by hand using fine glaze and 22kt gold lustre. Combining exquisite artistry with a touch of elegance, these porcelain stud earrings are perfect for adding a unique and sophisticated flair to any outfit.

You can shop these beautiful pieces of art (to add to your wardrobe) at their online store www.flickinc.co.za or visit their physical shop at The Watershed at the V&A Waterfront

Model shoot - Goldwell Colourzoom Competition 2019

I had to do a shoot for Mia Crous, a young very talented hairdresser from Durbanville. Basically the competition is held every year, and every year there is a different theme. This year the theme was “80’s” You have to cut, dye and style the models hair, and come up with a costume to fit with the theme. This was yet again an awesome project for me to capture in studio.

Model shoot - Saumya

Saumya contacted me out of the blue to do a shoot of her in studio… she was one of the finalists for the Mrs India South African beauty pageant to be held in Durban in August 2018. She was the only contestant from Cape Town. She needed some professional photos of her in various colourful outfits. Needless to say, it was a feast for the eyes…..the natural beauty and all the bright colours was so much fun to work with.

Here’s a few of my favourite photos of the shoot.

UPDATE: Saumya has won the Mrs India South Africa pageant!! Excitement overload!

Product photography - Matt Arend Timepieces

So I'm busy flexing my creative muscles with some watch photography for Matt Arend Timepieces. My client was looking for a different approach for his watches and I think I did pretty well if I had to say so myself. It's quite a challenge working with a product in macro, you can see the slightest little dust particle or finger print on the product. Just love some of the creative shots.

Talented hairstylist Mia

Mia contacted me for some photos she had to enter into a competition. The theme for the competition was "disturbed" Just love how the photos came out! Wish I could do photos like these everyday
